DJING
HISTORY: I have had a keen interest in the hard house and
clubbing scene for the last 6 years. Started with clubbing at God's
Kitchen, this progressed to clubs with a harder edge. I then decided
to take my passion for hard house a step further by buying my own
decks in May 2001. It soon became apparent to local promoters that
I had what it takes to be playing out live, even though I had only
been mixing for a very short time. I was soon playing at local venues
and my style was winning many fans. After sending demo cds to promoters
all across the country, bigger bookings finally started to come in.
My November 02 demo cd was picked out in the Ttidy Ttrax competition
top 10 out of 200 entrants and my
March 03 Demo cd has been picked number 2 in the www.gurn.net competition.
I also made Energy
UK DJ of the Month for March 2003.
My first major break came when I was offered a set at Dropzone,
Walsall,
and I was then made resident. In my brief
dj career I have now gained another 3 residencies, (Reality,
Leicester, Shaft Saturdays & Shaft,
Birmingham, and 2 Funkin Hard, Grantham)
in little under two years. Holding these residencies has helped me
to get me known and to secure other major bookings at clubs around
the country. Now with these residencies and a regular schedule of
guest slots it looks like its going to be a busy year ahead.
DJING STYLE: I would describe my music style as tough trancy
hard house. I like to think that my sets have a lot of progression,
building from hard trance right through to the more banging hard house
with a bit of techno dropped in here and there. I'm versatile and
adapt my sets to suit different crowds and set times.
INFLUENCES & INSPIRATIONS: As a producer BK
is one of my inspirations, you just have to listen to the man's tunes
to know that he is keeping hard house alive on his own. As a Dj Andy
Farley is technically superb and every up and coming Dj would
love to be in his shoes.
THOUGHTS ON THE FUTURE: Hoping that the hard house
bubble doesn't burst as predicted a couple of years ago. Producing
is at a high, with quality tunes and a large varity of tunes hitting
the shelves every week. With up and coming DJs 'round every corner,
there's no shortage of quality DJs for the future, which can only
be good for the club scene. In the near term I aim to continue establishing
my name and concentrating on the promoting side of things. |
