Hi F-f-f-olks,
Dashing off to Sheffield tomorrow, and wanted to get this off to
you now as there are some interesting events coming up I thought
you might be interested in.
Tony de Vit
2nd. July marks the fifth anniversary of his death. Coincidentally,
The Tidy Boys are releasing an album of his tracks and remixes and
holding a launch party at The Nightingale on Sunday, 29 June. Here's
what they say:
"TDV - Are you all ready? Launch Party and fundraiser at Nightingale,
Birmingham. 4pm till midnight - Tickets £10 + bf.
To coincide with the release of the TDV album on Tidy Trax, the
label is holding a launch party to raise money for charity with
a throbbing line up guaranteed to fill the 2000 capacity club it's
being held in.
The 100% confirmed line up is; Lisa Lashes, Anne Savage, Tidy Boys,
Ian M, Andy Farley, BK, Chris C, Steve Thomas, Lee Haslam, Pants
and Corset, Johnny Dangerous along with a live PA by SJ and Baby
Doc who will be performing the Tony De Vit favourite, 'Fever'. All
of these people and the venue had a special link to Tony.
(Actually, the current venue itself had no link to the man, as
at the time of his death The Nightingale was located on Thorpe Street,
Jonathan)
The event will be held at the venue which gave Tony his first residency
- The Nightingale in Birmingham on Sunday 29th June from 4pm till
Midnight.
Advance tickets on sale now costing £10 plus b/f. All profits
from the door will be going to the TDV trust. All the DJs playing
have offered their services for free. For more information keep
checking tidy.com.”
Release date for album: 07.07.03. The suitabliltiy fo holding this
event at The Nightingale is somewhat questionable as though it's
true that The Nightingale gave Tony de Vit a residency, I have been
told repeatedly by various people around at the time that The 'gale
also sacked him once he started to play his newer style of hard
dance music. I am sure the irony of the choice of this location
will be lost on only a very few neophytes.

Sundissential Gossip
Numbers falling and rumours start circulating of a split between
the promoters... the latest story is a hoot... and would certainly
bring a smile to many an insider's lips if true, (and no, I'm not
going to repeat it). Suffice it to say that it is denied by my reliable
sources.
You
"I am appealing...." .....no ... that's not right... erm...
er... let me rephrase that.......... "Help!" ... nope....
that strikes a chord of desperation.... how about... "send
me your contribution and I'll find somewhere for it. If you've got
an interesting history of clubland or a perspective on a club current
or past, let's hear it." Yes, that'll do.
That's all f-f-f-olks.
Safe clubbing,
Jonathan
